Lhasa vocational school helps impoverished students master practical skills
Founded in September of 2013, Lhasa No.2 Secondary Vocational and Technical School is a comprehensive full-time school that provides enhanced modern vocational training for students.
Students there could follow their own inclinations to choose to learn different vocational skills like transportation and logistics services, wood carving, thangka painting, cooking, hotel management, electrical and mechanical engineering, etc..

"As Tibet autonomous regional government has attached great importance to the poverty alleviation and vocational education in recent years, our school has actively cooperated with the government to carry out many professional training programs for supporting poverty alleviation work," according to Feng Yan, the director of school admissions office, "In order to help students from poor families acquire a practical skill or technique, we make every effort to support and carry out poverty reduction measures by providing modern vocational education and training for those students."
"I am so glad and honored to get a chance to study at the school," said Phuntsok Choedron, an 18-year-old girl from Lhundrup County of Lhasa who is selected to attend the short-term training courses of special poverty alleviation program, adding "I pledge to treasure this opportunity and learn the skill carefully. I know the school helps children from the most disadvantaged and needy families, helping us to become professionals to enter the market for skilled labor."
Lhasa No.2 Secondary Vocational and Technical School pushes the development of modern vocational education to not only ease the imbalance between labors supply and the huge demand for technical talents but also help impoverished students master practical skills to get rid of poverty.
