Religious activity held in Tsurphu Monastery

Tens of thousands of Tibetan Buddhist monks and believers attend an annual religious activity featuring the erection of a prayer banner pole at Tsurphu Monastery in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, Jun. 12, Xinhua reported.

The erection of a prayer banner pole has had a famous reputation amongst Buddhism believers in Tibet.

The Tsurphu Monastery is located in Tsurphu Valley of  Tohlung Dechen County, about 70 miles west of Lhasa City. It was built in 1189 A.D. by Dusum khyenpa, founder of the Karma Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism.
