Tibet to build highways in border villages

According to Tibet's transportation work conference held on Jan. 18, Tibet will build highways in border villages. In three years, Tibet aims to solve highway problems for natural villages in borer areas and minority nationality residences with less populations.

At the conference, Yongji, deputy director- general of Tibet Department of Communications, expressed that, communication and transportation were basic and leading conditions for poverty-stricken areas to get rid of poverty. Therefore, rural highway construction should be paid high attention to.

In 2017, a fixed-asset investment of 52 billion yuan will be completed in the field of transportation. Oil ways will be built in all counties in Medog, while highways will be constructed in all towns in Tibet. In addition, 5500 kilometers rural highways will be reconstructed. Highways will be available in 60 towns and 420 villages.

Besides, Tibet strives to build highways in border villages. In three years, Tibet aims to solve highway problems for natural villages in borer areas and minority nationality residences with less populations. Tibet will also try to realize the wide coverage of transportation infrastructures. In 2017, Tibet will spare no pains to solve the issue of hardened roads in 75 border villages and highways in 285 border villages.
