A professional competition to test the comprehensive abilities of baristas was held over the weekend in Lhasa, Tibet autonomous region, as part of a coffee festival.

There were 15 contestants from inside and outside the region, along with 26 tasters.

After two days of fierce competition, a champion, a runner-up and a third-place winner were announced. The winners will represent Lhasa later in higher-level competitions.

Tsomo, the operator of Lhasa Nindo Coffee, the first boutique coffee brand in Tibet, which co-hosted the activity, said, as the first certified judge of the competition, she hoped more local baristas would participate in national level professional competitions in the future.

"I hope more local baristas can go out and communicate with other excellent baristas and professional coffee judges from other regions," Tsomo said, adding that she hopes the coffee industry in Tibet will become more professional and prosperous.
