China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co., Ltd. introduced on March 29 that on March 28, a 21-group container train loaded with 1,470 tons of coal ash departing from the Qingtongxia railway freight yard successfully arrived at the cargo yard of Nyingchi Station. This was the first container train to arrive since the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway became operational.

Container transportation via railway can save 3% of transportation energy compared with automobile transportation. At the same time, the successful arrival of the first container train signifies that the local enterprises in Nyingchi have a more balanced allocation of road and railway transportation resources, which will further optimize the transportation structure, expand the scale of freight customers of Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway, and achieve high-quality and diverse development of the railway.
