Middle School Students from Ngari Go to Beijing for a Study Tour

At the beginning of the spring, everything went green. A group of 26 middle school students and 5 teachers, hailing from the border counties of Gar, Zanda, Burang, and Rutog in Ngari, Xizang, started a study tour in Beijing.

“We have kinds of activities this time, including watching the flag-raising ceremony on Tiananmen Square, visiting the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution, and other trips stimulating children’s patriotism, as well as the study tour contents of visiting Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beihang University, and High School Attached to Beijing University of Technology. We have also arranged the trip to visit the Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park, the Bird’s Nest, and the Water Cube,” the staff of the People’s Government of the Xizang Autonomous Region in Beijing, one of the sponsors, introduced. “I hope that children from Ngari can enrich their experiences, expand their horizons, and have an unforgettable trip.”

The participants in this activity are all junior high school students aged between 13 to 15. Most of them are making their first trip to Beijing or even going out of Xizang for the first time. “I want to go to Tsinghua University and Peking University to see the best universities most,” said Wangden Lhamo, a first-year junior high school student in Rutog County, excitedly. Losang Dondrup, a teacher leading the group and a staff of the Zanda Education Bureau, has great expectations for the Yuanmingyuan Ruins Park and the Great Wall: “In the past, children only saw these places in textbooks. Now, they have the opportunity to see them personally.”
