Black-Necked Cranes on the Plateau
In Namling County, Xigaze, the Xizang Autonomous Region, a large flock of black-necked cranes are foraging and playing on the wetland and nearby farmlands. As their name suggests, these cranes are characterized by the black feathers on their heads and necks. Classified as a national first-class protected species, they mainly inhabit plateaus, meadows, and moors, which are 2,500 to 5,000 meters in altitude. Currently, most black-necked cranes are distributed on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau and the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in China.
