Public Welfare Healthcare Kicks off in Sichuan’s Daocheng County
“Are No. 61, 62, and 63 patients here? Please come here to queue up...” It was crowded at the gate of the People’s Hospital of Daocheng County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Hundreds of people from several villages and towns nearby quietly waited for their numbers to be called.
In the hall of the hospital, experts from Beijing were providing free medical treatment to the local people.
“I have a pain in the chest for two to three years. I went to the prefecture and province without finding the solutions.” Mrs. Wang who is 59 years old lives nearby. It only takes 20 minutes to walk to the People’s Hospital of the County. “I saw a message in the WeChat group of the village yesterday, saying that experts from big hospitals in Beijing would come today. I came here quickly to have a look.” Qu Miao, Chief Physician of the Neurology Department of Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University, asked about the symptoms and past medical history of the patient, carefully examined the patient, and gave corresponding suggestions on treatment.
“The expert explained patiently. I understood what the expert said.” Mrs. Wang gave a thumbs-up gesture.
Beside each expert was a medical staff from the People’s Hospital of the County, the Maternal and Child Care Service Center of the County, and other units. While completing logistical and medical security work, they also learned diagnosis and treatment knowledge in practice.
A total of 22 experts provided voluntary medical service to more than 300 people in the People’s Hospital of the county, and made 211 prescriptions that afternoon. The expert team also gave 5 health knowledge lectures to medical organizations in the surrounding area.
