Recently, during the Tibetan New Year in Tibet, at the Mainling Station of the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway, six flaw detection workers of the Lhasa infrastructure section of the China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group Co., Ltd. worked late at night, checking the conditions of the rails with ultrasonic flaw detection equipment.

The Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway is 435.48 kilometers long in total, starting from Lhasa and reaching the urban area of Nyingchi after passing through Lhoka. Over 90% of the routes are above 3,000 meters above sea level, and the railway crosses the Yarlung Zangbo River 16 times. With the increase in trains running, especially during the Spring Festival transportation, the smooth and flat rails may also be damaged to some extent. That’s why the rail flaw detectors, like doctors, use ultrasonic instruments to detect rail defects.

It is reported that since the operation of the railway, workers have inspected more than 1,200 kilometers of the line, with 2 serious injuries and 11 minor injuries to the rails found.
