On December 19, 2020, “Celebrating the complete success of the height measurement of Mt. Qomolangma in 2020 and the announcement of the new height of 8848.86 meters”, the national first souvenir event of “Climbing the Peak” was held grandly in Lhasa, Tibet.

The event invited the famous Tibetan painter, collector, and Tibetologist, Mr. Ye Xingsheng, who is over 70 years old, to participate. In spite of the severe coldness and lack of oxygen on the plateau, he took the heavy-color cloth painting and innovative thangka “Colors of Mt. Qomolangma” to Lhasa from Beijing to attend the event, and he wrote the Chinese and Tibetan calligraphy for “Tashi Delek” at the scene, wishing good luck for all Chinese people. The heavy-color cloth painting and innovative thangka “Colors of Mt. Qomolangma” was placed on the left and right sides of the main venue of the event. Ye Xingsheng described the content and creation process of the painting at the event.

On May 27, 2020, a Chinese mountaineering team climbed to the top from the northern slope to measure the new height of Mt. Qomolangma. They specially brought Ye Xingsheng’s heavy-color cloth painting and innovative thangka “Colors of Mt. Qomolangma” (60 cm x 90 cm) and the Mt. Qomolangma gold medal to display and pray at the base camp and summit, demonstrating the spirit of the Chinese nation to climb the summit without fear of hardships or dangers.
