Injured national first-class protected bearded vulture rescued in the Tibet Autonomous Region
Recently, the Karub District Squadron of the Chamdo Forest Fire Fighting Detachment of the Tibet Autonomous Region carried out load-bearing mountaineering training work, and on the way, they rescued a bearded vulture, a national first-class protected wild animal.
It is reported that bearded vultures inhabit mountainous bare rock areas at altitudes of 500 to 4,000 meters above sea level. They like to inhabit open areas, such as grasslands, the tundra, highlands, and cliffs. They mainly feed on the carcasses of large animals. Due to its scarcity, the bearded vultures belong to national first-class protected animals and were included on the Red List of Endangered Animals for the “International Union for the Conservation of Nature” (IUCN) in 2016.
