Xizang Minzu University trains talents in Hindi and Nepali languages
Xizang Minzu University, located in Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is the first institution of higher learning established for Tibet after the peaceful liberation of Tibet. Since its establishment 61 years ago, the school has played an active role as an incubator of higher education for Tibet, training talents for Tibet and serving Tibet’s economic and social development.
In 2013, the School of Foreign Languages at the university actively responded to the Belt and Road initiative and began to prepare for the addition of Nepali and Hindi languages in light of needs for Tibet’s economic and social development. In 2018, the school successfully opened its Nepali and Hindi language program, and students will systematically learn the languages and cultures of Nepal and India within four years.
