Qinghai launches Tibetan-Chinese law translation project
The Intermediate Court of Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China’s Qinghai province has launched a Tibetan-Chinese law term translation project, further promoting research and development of Tibetan-Chinese law translation software, according to information from the provincial High People’s Court on July 21.
It is reported that for courts in six prefectures in Qinghai province, 50 percent of litigation cases heard each year involve Tibetans. For example, court cases related to Tibetan parties in Xinghai County People’s Court in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture have reached 72 percent. Therefore, the development of Tibetan-Chinese law translation software is urgently needed in courts in Tibetan-inhabited regions.
