Birthplace of the Kangding Love Song: Lake Miga Tso
Kangding, capital city of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province, is the heart of the ancient Tea-Horse Road and known as the birthplace of love songs and ancient legendaries.
The Kangding Love Song Scenic Area, Lake Miga Tso is located in the middle of the Gangkar Mountains. It is also known as the "Savage Sea" and is one of the largest mountain lakes in northwest Sichuan. With an altitude of 3,700 meters, the lake is surrounded by mountains and forests and dozens of small lakes.
In spring, the ice on the surface of Lake Miga Tso has not fully melted. At this time the scenery is breathtaking as the aboriginal forests, grasslands and snow mountain landscape blends together. The Gold Coast of Lake Miga Tso is reputed as "Love Shoals" and is a major highlight of the lake. Its sand is soft and has a natural, golden color.
The "Seven Color Sea" in the Lake Miga Tso Scenic Area is a plateau lake with hot springs. Surrounded by forests and meadows, it is elegant and quiet. The water of the lake is clear and changes into seven different colors according to the weather and the sun.
In the eyes of devout Buddhists, mani stones and piles of mani stones posses a supernatural spirituality and are auspicious. Whenever Tibetan people walked by a pile of mani stones, they will add a small stone or pebble on it to make a prayer. Adding a stone is equivalent to reciting Buddhist scriptures once. In this way, "mani stone piles" continue to grow, gradually forming a small hill.
