The beauty of e-commerce (II): e-commerce from Mianyang City
Editor's note: The Sichuan-Tibet Plateau, a beautiful region that reaches toward the heavens, is a place showered with blue skies, covered in white clouds, and dotted with snow-covered mountains, but recently, something truly remarkable has been materializing among the households that call this place home. A groundbreaking historic change has been reshaping the land and its people. From today on, we will publish a series of stories to tell you those changes.
Just when Dongzhou started to get worried, Village Director Dedan and Rangtang County Deputy Head Dai Shengli visited and brought him some good news. The Mianyang City Work Team for supporting Tibetan inhabited areas had decided to begin developing competitive industries within Rangtang County with the aim of helping farmers and herders increase their incomes through the vigorous promotion of agricultural and animal product export sales.
Dai Shengli said that due to the work team's efforts, a new Mianyang-based e-commerce company named Changmei (from Changhong Group) had reached a cooperative agreement with Liu Ziqian, the director of a slaughterhouse in Rangtang County.
Liu was to supply fresh frozen yak meat to the company, and after signing the agreement, he had to purchase separate vacuum packaging machines along with other materials to expand his freezer. He was in a bind and desperately needed to purchase enough yaks to supply his demand, and the company requested him to secure 1,000 heads for his first year. Liu knew very well of the difficulty of purchasing yaks posed by local customs.
The year prior, only 800 yaks were slaughtered, and with the significantly increased demand, he became worried that he would not be able to meet his client's needs. Higher demand often results in higher prices, and instead of making money, Liu could have very easily lost quite a bit.
After County Deputy Head Dai Shengli, who supervised Rangtang County's animal husbandry business, became aware of Liu's problem, it was not long before a meeting was arranged between the herder and slaughterhouse director.
