Yushu sets up Tibetan culture protection zone
The national level Tibetan cultural ecology protection experimental zone, applied by the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai, has been approved by the Ministry of Culture, according to Culture and Press Publication Department of Qinghai.
Yushu City is the center of the Tibetan cultural ecology protection pilot zone, which radiates out into other counties, like Chindu, Zhidoi and Nangchen. The zone will protect the county- (city) and township-level work units, covering both the material and intangible cultural heritage created by Tibetan people of Yushu.
Qinghai already has the Regong cultural ecology protection pilot zone (Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture) and the Gesar cultural ecology protection pilot zone (Golog Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture) and it is China’s first province that gets three national-level cultural ecology protection pilot zones.
