Mulueberhan wins 2023 Tour of Qinghai Lake

CAKA, China, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Henok Mulueberhan took overall victory in the 2023 Tour of Qinghai Lake after the eighth and final stage here on Sunday.

The 23-year-old, riding for Italy's Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizane, completed the 8-stage tour in 31 hours, 14 minutes and 57 seconds to seal the title, and was awarded both yellow and green jerseys. His teammate Alessio Nieri kept the polka-dot jersey for best climber.

The concluding stage, stretching from Gonghe to Caka, covered a total distance of 200 kilometers, and featured three intermediate sprints and one climb.

Belgium's Tarteletto-Isorex rider Timothy Dupont took the eighth stage title, Victor Alejandro Ocampo Giraldo of Colombia's Medellin and Luke Mudgway of New Zealand's Bolton Equities Black Spoke finished second and third respectively.

Saeid Safarzadeh of the Tianyoude Hotel Cycling Team kept the blue jersey as the leading Asian rider.

The 22nd Tour of Qinghai Lake cycling race was held from July 9 to 16 over eight stages, with a total distance of 1,384 kilometers, including a race distance of 1,334 kilometers and transfer distance of 50 kilometers.
