The Medika Wetland National Nature Reserve in Xizang is located in Medika Township, Chali County, Nakchu City, at an average altitude of 4,900 meters. It is a typical plateau lake-marsh meadow wetland. In 2004, it was designated as a Wetland of International Importance under the International Convention on Wetlands, and in 2016, it was upgraded to a national-level nature reserve with the approval of the State Council.

In recent years, Chali County has continuously strengthened its three‑tier ecological management network at the county, township, and village levels. It has adopted a multi‑level conservation model combining drone aerial photography, telescope observation, and on‑foot patrols, while also involving local herders in patrol duties to fully protect the plateau wetland ecosystem. After years of management and restoration, the wetland's ecological environment has continued to improve, making it a core habitat and breeding ground for rare migratory birds such as the black‑necked crane, while snow leopards, Tibetan antelopes, and other rare wildlife also thrive within the wetland.
