Lhasa’s visitor throughout exceeds 3.5 million during Shoton Festival

Lhasa, capital city of southwest China’ Tibet Autonomous Region has received more than 3.5 million visitor throughout during the traditional Shoton Festival, a year-on-year increase of 3.38%, achieving a tourism revenue of 1.162 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.12%, according to official statistics.

With the theme of “Happy Shoton, Healthy Lhasa”, the week-long Shoton Festival, also called as Yogurt Festival, kicked off on August 19 and closed on August 25.

The celebrations of the festival were held separately in the Norbulingka,the summar Place of the Dalai Lamas, the Dzongyab Lukhang Park, Baina Valley, Dadong Village and Zhouji Plaza due to the Covid-19 pandemic control and prevention measures. Through celebrating activities like Buddha sunning, horse-racing, Tibetan opera performance and hiking, the city aims to introduce the history, culture, customs and social and economic development achievements of Lhasa to visitors.

Of all the visitor throughout, the one-day visitor throughout constitutes about 2.88 million, a year-on-year increase of 3.51%; the overnight visitors about 0.7 million, a year-on-year increase of 2.89%.
