Nyanpo Yuze, “Backyard Garden of Gods”

Nyanpo Yuze, also known as the Golok Mountain, means “holy turquoise peak” in Tibetan. It is located in Jigzhi County, Golok Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. Due to crustal movements eons ago, it took on the form of a lotus-shaped mountain, adorned with dense forests and dotted with lakes. It is the habitat of precious wildlife on the plateau, such as wild donkeys, wild yaks, and Tibetan antelopes.

Nyanpo Yuze was included in the Sanjiangyuan Nature Reserve in 2000; it was upgraded to a national nature reserve in 2003; and it was rated as a national geological park in 2005.
