Tibetan Medicine Institute waives school fees for students in quake-hit areas

In order to reduce the economic burden of students in quake-hit areas, Tibetan Medicine Institute decides to waive and subsidize their studying and living fees.

According to Trinley Wangyel, party secretary and deputy dean of Tibetan Medicine Institute, this institute’s many students come from Shigatse’s Girong County, Nyalam County and Tingri County. After the earthquake happened, Tibetan Medicine Institute immediately collected statistics on the affected degree of these students’ families. Though there are no heavy casualties, most students’ houses are collapsed or damaged and their life is affected.

To prevent students from dropping out of school for economic reasons, from now on to the end of the quake-hit areas’ reconstruction work, quake-affected students will get a certain amount of allowance for living expanses and their school fees will be waived. The subsidy standard will be carried out in accordance with the affected situations. In addition, psychological counseling class is open to help them get rid of the earthquake shadow. What's more, teachers and students have donated over 70000 yuan RMB to quake-hit areas.
