The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics torch relay took place from February 2nd to February 4th, and over 1200 torchbearers from myriad backgrounds participated. These torchbearers have excelled in their fields or have made positive impacts and contributions to their communities. Ngawang Losang Dondrup and Chime Dorje were two ethnic Tibetan torchbearers.

Ngawang Losang Dondrup is a Tibetan singer who is currently the choir leader at China Ethnic Song and Dance Ensemble. “As a minority group artist, I am very honored and happy to be as a torchbearer. I will treasure this opportunity and take up the social responsibilities of a torchbearer by spreading passion with my music so that we can move forward together with the world.”

Chime Dorje is a postal worker from Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. He is busy on the snow-laden mail route all year round, delivering mail and packages for nomadic families on the plateau. Chime says, “on average days I deliver packages to countless households, but today as an Olympic torchbearer, I am entrusted with the task of delivering the Olympic spirit. This significance and the special connection between the Winter Olympics and my snow-paved mail route is truly unique and cherished!”
