Students in Tibet get a train ride home

Winter school vacation has arrived in the Tibet autonomous region, and the Lhasa Railway Station provided special services to get students home safely, China News Service reported.

More than 700 students from Lhasa-Nagchu Third High School in Lhasa went home on a special train recently. The students were from Nagchu, about 300 kilometers from Lhasa. The train was provided by China Railway Qinghai-Tibet Group.

The station in Lhasa opened a dedicated ticket window for the students and guided them at entrances, in the waiting hall and on the train cars.

Zhu Yuhai, a teacher at the school, noted that the Lhasa station opened a green channel to provide various conveniences for the students, so that teachers and parents needn't worry.

"In order to avoid the safety hazards of travel by automobile, our school has a special fund to buy train tickets for the students," he said.

Tsering Dundrub, a student from the Lhasa-Nagchu Second High School, said he took the train from Lhasa to his home, Nagchu, Tibet, recently, and was pleased.

"It's fast and safe, I arrived home quickly, I want to say thanks to our school for buying tickets for us, and thanks to the railway operator for their warm services," he said.
