Tibet Nagchu livestock products fair opens
The 13th Livestock Products Fair of Nagchu, southwest China's Tibet opened on December 10. A total of 215 agricultural and nomadic economic cooperatives and 23 businesses from 78 townships and 11 counties of the city participated in the fair.
Animal husbandry is a pillar industry of Nagchu. The predecessor of the Nagchu Livestock Products Fair was a temporary market formed by herders selling beef and mutton.
Today, it has become one of the main channels for Nagchu’s herders to increase their cash income.
The fair organizers estimate that the total sales of this year’s fair will exceed 250 million yuan (about 36 million US dollars).
