Reporters learned from the Potala Palace Management Office that from May 1, the Potala Palace will adopt high tourism season ticket prices.
Ticket prices will be raised from 100 yuan (15 US dollars) per person to 200 yuan (30 US dollars). Restrictions to passenger flow will also be imposed, and tickets must be reserved in advance. Visitors can make reservations online at the official website of the Potala Palace seven days in advance, or they can make appointments at the on-site ticket window one day in advance.
After the appointment is made, visitors will get a free reservation voucher with personal identification information and visit time. Visitors need to take the voucher to the main entrance two hours before the appointment time on the next day.
The Potala Palace Management Office reminds visitors that if there is no transaction after the appointment is made, then another appointment cannot be made again within seven days. The reservations window is open daily from 8:00 a.m. and remains open until there are no reservation tickets left.
