Ethnic handicrafts promote industrial poverty alleviation in Ngari, Tibet
On April 1, Qangmai Village in Caka Township in Gegye County, Ngari,Tibet held a trade fair for ethnic handicraft products.
Local ethnic handicraft products displayed at the trade fair included home-made handbags, dual-pouch horseback bags, and blankets. Total sales for the half-day fair exceeded 10,000 yuan (1,489 US dollars).
Since 2018, Caka Township has been exploring local traditional ethnic handicraft skills and products. By learning from experiences and characteristics of ethnic handicraft products from outside the region and organizing farmers and nomads to produce ethnic handicraft products., they have become better able to preserve the ethnic handicraft industry, achieving the goals of increasing incomes and alleviating poverty as well as inheriting traditional culture.
