Tibet starts professional cycling team
In recent years, Tibet has used its rich and unique outdoor resources in hosting the Around Basum Co Lake Mountain Cycling Competition and other cycling events, which has continued to popularize the sport in Tibet. Especially the successful hosting of the first annual Corss Himalayas Extreme Cycling Competition has made the sport more popular than ever on the plateau.
In order to elevate the level of cycling skills in Tibet, to promote cycling as a sport, and to help plateau-specific athletics grow, the cycling team of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) was established at the Athletic School of TAR on November 13th.
The formal founding of the cycling team of Tibet Autonomous Region has marked an end to the era of Tibet having no professional cycling team of its own; it is a new beginning to the development of professional cycling in Tibet.
