Tea plant helps people cast off poverty in Metok, Tibet

The Metok Organic Tea Processing Plant, with a registered capital of 10 million yuan (1.5 million US dollars), was established in 2015 and has greatly developed organic tea industry in the area. Since it became operational, the plant has harvested over 50 thousand kilograms of tea, helped increase farmers and herders' income by more than four million yuan (0.58 million US dollars), and helped 720 people of 145 households get out from poverty. As of now, the plant has produced 15 thousand kilograms of tea and achieved sales of over four million yuan. Sale for 2018 is expected to reach 20 million yuan (2.92 million US dollars).
