Tourism income reaches 1 Billion Yuan during Shoduton Festival:Lhasa
On August 18th, the Tourism and Development Commission of Lhasa revealed that during Shoton Festival this year, the city has had 2.89 million visitors, an increase of 20.48% compared to the previous period, achieving an tourism income of 981 million yuan, an increase of 25.28%.
On August 12th, many tourists took photos in front of the flower tapestry exhibit at the Potala Palace Plaza. Mr. Zhang from Hubei Province said he was excited to see this event on his first visit to Lhasa. “Before, I've only seen the Shoton Festival on TV and online and I thought it was so culturally unique. I feel very lucky to enjoy a perfect Shoton Festival on this visit.”
During the week-long Shoton Festival, Lhasa has many events including a Buddha Thangka exhibition, hiking tours of Namtso, Tibetan opera performances, trade fairs, etc., attracting many domestic and international tourists to Lhasa.
“At this holiday, I got to enjoy traditional Tibetan shows, unique Tibetan cuisine; the beauty of which couldn't even be expressed by words. I took many photos and will share them with my family and friends,” said Mr. Wang, a tourist from Beijing, who took photos at the Jokhang Temple Plaza on August 17th.
