"Rock Dog" animation to be screened in China

"Rock Dog," a 3D animation adapted from a comic book written by Chinese rock star Zheng Jun, will be screened nationwide soon.

Chongqing Film Group, one of the producers, said Thursday the film will hit Chinese theaters on July 8 before its global release.

Zhou Lifang, deputy director of the business department of the Chongqing Film Group, said it took six years to make the film, which was directed by American animator Ash Brannon, who also co-directed "Toy Story 2".

The movie tells the story of a Tibetan mastiff named Bodi, who grew up in a village at the foot of the Himalayas. Born to be a guard, he became interested in rock music and begins to pursue his dream.
