Mother's Day was a little more nutritious for 3,000 poor mothers in the Tibet Autonomous Region on Sunday, thanks to PepsiCo, Greater China Region (GCR). The women and their families received PepsiCo Quaker Caring Parcels, valued at 360,000 yuan ($55,332), filled with nutritious treats and other daily necessities from PepsiCo GCR.

The donation was a sign of the company's continued support of Mother Postal Parcel (MPP), a project initiated by the China Women's Development Foundation (CWDF). Qin Guoying, the vice chairman and secretary-general of CWDF, and Cathy Tai, the vice president of corporate affairs, PepsiCo GCR, attended the event with representatives from the Tibet Autonomous Region.

In Nagqu, Changdu and Ali, Tibet, where the PepsiCo Quaker Caring Parcels were sent, local herders lack proper nutrition, while women and children face particularly worrisome nutritional problems.

As a global food and beverage company, PepsiCo is dedicated to providing a variety of delicious food and beverage products for consumers. Its Quaker Oats is the No.1 hot cereal brand in China. PepsiCo Quaker Caring Parcels pair nutritious, high-fiber Quaker products with MPP's daily necessities to help give optimum nutrition to poor mothers.

Speaking at the official launch on May 6, Tai said PepsiCo is committed to corporate social responsibility, and the donation was just a small part of its contributions over the last three decades.

"PepsiCo has been investing in China's growth and development while building our food and beverage business," said Tai. "'Dreams Begin with PepsiCo' showcases our commitment to giving back to our community. Through PepsiCo Quaker Caring Parcels, we hope to bring health and nutrition as well as our care to those needy Tibetan mothers with Quaker Oats products."

Describing PepsiCo as a "long-term strategic partner of CWDF," Qin lauded the company's efforts to give back to the community and thanked PepsiCo for its support.

"Providing nutritious Quaker products for our MPPs will not only satisfy the varied needs of poor mothers but is also an innovative pairing that is reminiscent of the traditional MPPs," Qin said. "We want to express our sincere gratitude and heartfelt appreciation of PepsiCo's philanthropic endeavors."

Mother Postal Parcel is an award-winning charity program that was initiated by the CWDF in 2012. It won an award at the 8th China Charity Award one year later. PepsiCo, the first Fortune 500 Company to partner with MPP, has been a key supporter ever since the program's initial stage, and the Quaker Oats brand is MPP's only nutritional food partner. The Quaker Caring Parcel donation represents PepsiCo's further contribution to MPP on the back of its four consecutive years of support through its Chinese New Year campaign "Bring Happiness Home." To date, PepsiCo's direct donation to MPP exceeds 4 million yuan and has brought warmth and goodwill to more than 30,000 mothers and their families in 11 provinces, including the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Gansu Province, Guizhou Province and Qinghai Province.

In addition to supporting MPP, PepsiCo also supports many public welfare projects in China such as its long-term support for the "Water Cellar for Mothers" program. The PepsiCo Nutrition in Action program provides nutritious meals for students in poverty-stricken areas in Yunnan Province. Other charity campaigns initiated by associates, plants and farms of PepsiCo across the country also directly benefit local communities. PepsiCo also offer emergency relief efforts during major natural disasters.

PepsiCo also actively supports the development of China's elementary and higher education system. It set up the "PepsiCo Library" program to support the needs of rural village schools and the "PepsiCo Better Tomorrow" program to improve the learning environment of children of migrant workers. PepsiCo also established a "Course on Corporate Responsibility" at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management.

Public welfare donations from the PepsiCo Foundation, PepsiCo GCR and PepsiCo associates in China have exceeded 140 million yuan so far.
