4522 volunteers work in Tibet

Tibet Autonomous Region’s Communist Youth League announced that during the 13 year history of the college students volunteer service program in western China, there have been 4,522 volunteers in Tibet, with more than 1,500 volunteers staying to work after volunteering ended.

They have provided a great talent resource for the reform and development of Tibet.

In 2003, China launched a national college student volunteer program in western China. The program recruited volunteers, chose candidates, and assigned them to Tibet. A number of college graduates or graduate students went to Tibet every year for a term of one-to-three years to do volunteer work in education, public health, farming techniques, and poverty relief.
