Tibet investigates 2,415 economic cases last year
According to the Administration for Industry & Commerce of Tibet Autonomous Region, 2,415 economic cases in violation of regulations and laws were investigated throughout the region in 2015, involving 5.726 million yuan (867,576 U.S. dollars) and fining and confiscating 3.8254 million yuan (579,606 U.S. dollars).
In recent years, the industry and commerce system of Tibet has comprehensively promoted market supervision with a view to maintaining a market environment for fair competition and a safe and secure environment for consumers.
According to a principal of the Tibet Administration for Industry & Commerce, the industry and commerce departments investigated a total of 559 cases on unfair competition, involving 1.54 million yuan (151,515 U.S. dollars), confiscated 7,996 illegal publications, removed over 5,300 items of harmful information and pictures on the Internet, cracked down on pyramid selling activities over 40 times, included 880 persons involved in pyramid selling into the blacklist, established all together 380 “communities, townships and schools free from pyramid selling” and designated 481 liaisons against the pyramid schemes.
Meanwhile, the industry and commerce system further standardized the qualification of tourist souvenir dealers and their business conduct in key scenic spots, banned eight unlicensed travel businesses, ordered five travel agencies to stop doing business for internal rectification and punished “illegal guides”.
This year, the industry and commerce departments are expected to intensify law enforcement, concentrate on maintaining market operation order and strengthen the maintenance of consumers’ rights and interests.
