Tibet on Nov. 16th praised the 683 stationed village work teams, 2729 team members and 256 outstanding organizations. After the meeting the fifth stationed village work team set off the ceremony at the front of the People's Hall of Tibet, marking the official passing on of the village work to a new group of cadres. The work has deeply penetrated the Tibet’s pastoral areas and helped solve the people’s problems.

It is understood that the fifth village work team has a total of more than 20,000 cadres stationing at 5,464 villages across Tibet. They aim to do practical work, solve problems, strengthen the grass roots and create a stable foundation for development.

Farmers account for nearly 80% of the total population in Tibet, with more than 2.4 million farmers spread across 5,464 villages in the region. Over the years the party’s presence in the pastoral areas has been weak and “lacking methods and talent”, which has led to problems. To this end, Tibet has accelerated the transition by using new results to promote stability and develop a powerful force.

Starting in October 2011 Tibet has sent more than 20,000 cadres per year to the villages and temples, to build close ties with, depend on and mobilize the people; and to help Tibet build a prosperous society in line with the rest of the country.

In order to facilitate work development once the teams reach the villages, the government of Tibet Autonomous Region allocated roughly one billion yuan per year of special funds. And to help with problems and difficulties, each team is given 100,000 yuan from this fund to help local people with practical work.
