Tenth Namtso walking convention to be held in September

Lhasa, capital city of SW China's Tibet Autonomous Region, will hold the 10th Namtso walking convention in September, China Tibet Online reported.

During the activity, the attendants will walk along the Tashi Peninsula. The walkers will be experiencing by themselves the beautiful natural scenery of the Jiangtang Grassland as well as the unique folk culture and humanistic customs. They at the same time can experience a different way of walking on the beautiful Jiangtang Grassland near the foot of the mighty Dangla Mountain and the bank of the sacred Lake Namtso.

As the second largest lake in Tibet and the third largest salt lake in China, Lake Namtso is located in the central part of the Tibet Autonomous Region. “Namtso” means “the heavenly lake” in Tibetan language, and it is one of the sacred religious places. The Tashi Peninsula is also called the lucky love peninsula located in Damxun county of Tibet. It is Lake Namtso’s largest peninsula and it is also the most important scenic point of interest in the area.
