First “Tibet Statue Art Fair” opens
On the 15th of July, “The 1st Tibetan Statue Art Fair” was opened at the People’s Art Hall of the Tibet Autonomous Region. It was reported that, the 1st “fair” will be themed surrounding the ideas of “intangible cultural heritage + industry” which attempts to see intangible cultural heritage from a new perspective. This fair displays 120 excellent art works and there are 55 pieces of art that have been entered into the competition. The materials include metal, cement, wood, cloth and jade. The content of the art works is related to topics such as Buddha sculpturing, historical figures and folk culture. There are 5 areas and cities taking part in the exhibition, namely Lhasa, Shigatse, Qamdo, Lhoka and Ngari. The fair will be opened to public from the 15th to the 19th of July during which all kinds of activities including exhibitions, craft competitions and awards will be conducted.
The fair integrates the practical situation of Tibet while considering the rich culture, the people, the high-level traditional sculpturing art as important resources while conducting this first run of the fair.
