XINING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The 7th China EV Rally of Qinghai Lake (CEVR) began on Thursday in Xining, northwest China's Qinghai Province.
A total of 13 models of electric vehicles will be tested across 12 stages.
First held in 2014, the CEVR is the world's highest-altitude EV competition and has become a major domestic platform to promote brands of new-energy vehicles.
After the departure ceremony, cars are divided into two fleets for performance testing of soundproofing, acceleration, braking, control and wading, representing five of the 14 areas on which the vehicles are evaluated.
The competition will be held on July 24 and 25 with a total distance of 1,015 kilometers, and elevation ranging from 2,000 to 3,820 meters.
