Panda house opened on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

On June 16, the Panda house in the Qinghai-Tibet Wildlife Zoo was opened to public in Xining, northwest China’s Qinghai Province.

The four panda babies: Hexing, Yuanman, Shuangxin, and Qiguo are from the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Center and arrived on the plateau in early June. Currently, they have fully adjusted to the climate on the plateau and all of their physical indicators are normal.

Can pandas have high altitude sickness? Experts have said that as a species unique to China, they’re suited to living at an altitude between 1,200 to 3,000 meters. Since Xining’s altitude is at 2,200 meters, it’s very appropriate for the pandas.

What’s more, the zoo has signed a bamboo supply partnership with the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Center. The pandas’ other source of food, such as apples and steamed corn breads, are all purchased from reputable and safe food suppliers.
