Rafting World Cup starts in mid July
The Rafting World Cup will be held from July 15 to 22 in Yushu City, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Region of Qinghai Province, and at the time it will welcome about 100 athletes from 16 countries to participate, Xinhua reported.
The Rafting World Cup as an international match will be held for the first time in China and it is also the first time that China has been granted the right to host an A level international rafting match. Furthermore, it is the most prestigious event in history in the regard of sports for Yushu City.
Yang Pei, vice head of the Qinghai Physical Education Bureau vice, stated that the cultural and economic significance of this Rafting World Cup already goes far beyond the dimension of sports and will be become a new “name card” advertising the natural beauty and historic culture of our land.
As the origin of the Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers, Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Region possesses some of the most unique water resources, and was appointed by the China Extreme Sports Committee as the national training base for rafting.
