LANZHOU, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Sitting on the border of Gansu, Qinghai and Sichuan provinces, Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture serves as a major water conservation area for the Yellow River, the second-longest river in China.

A vast array of grassland, wetland and mountains, including abundant biodiversity, adorn Gannan prefecture in Gansu Province. Besides, cultural sites like the Labrang Monastery and other Tibetan Buddhist monasteries embellish the prefecture, making the place an acclaimed attraction for both domestic and international tourists.

A total of 24 ethnic groups dwell in the prefecture with Tibetan residents accounting for 55.92 percent of the entire population.
