1st Silk Road cultural expo to take place in September

The first Silk Road International Cultural Expo will be held on Sep. 20 in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, China Tourism News reported.

The theme of this expo is to “promote cultural exchanges and collectively seek cooperative development”. The Ministry of Culture, State Administration of Press and Publication, Radio and Television, China National Tourism Administration, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Gansu provincial government will co-host the event.

It consists of two fixed activities and several optional activities. The fixed activities are a high-level forum and a Silk Road cultural exhibition. The high-level forum includes a summit and ministerial meetings; the Silk Road Cultural Exhibition is divided into four areas including an international, Chinese, Gansu and special exhibition area. Optional activities include forums, exhibitions as well as song and dance performances.

At present there are already 58 countries, five international organizations and 19 sister cities attending the event, and France is confirmed as the guest of honor for the first cultural expo.

The Silk Road International Cultural Expo is the “One Belt, One Road” strategy’s only national-level cultural expo that uses culture as the guiding theme. It aims to help promote cultural exchange and cooperation with countries along the Silk Road and will become an annual event.
