Gansu boasts two state-level aviation flight camps

Gansu Aero-Sports School and Jiuquan Hundred Li General Aviation Co have been appointed as aviation flight camps in Gansu province, according to the Gansu Sport Administration.

Gansu's two camps along with 48 others around the country received awards from the radio model sports management center of the office of General Administration of Sport of China and the Aero Sports Federation of China on Dec 16, marking the official opening of the first group of Chinese aviation flight camps.

The camps' opening followed the national proposals on developing the sports industry and aimed to promote sports consumption, according to Song Maosen, director of the radio model sports management center.

"The 50 camps will integrate with different regions' social and tourism development, and introduce aviation flight training, experience and products to locals," said Song.

Due to out-of-date infrastructure and a low degree of marketization, Chinese aviation sport is still at its initial stage and the aviation industry is far from meeting customers' demand. Therefore, the 50 camps will take the lead in developing the market, Song added.

The radio model sports management center expects to build ten five-star camps by 2020, 100 four-star camps and 1,890 three-star camps.
