7000-meter glacier to become new tourism destination in Lhasa
The Lhasa Potala Tourism and Culture Group is now building a scenic district for Mt. Qiongmugangri (“a well-read maiden” in Tibetan), which is one of the four mountain peaks above 7000 meters on the southern part of the Tanggula Mountains.
The mountain is located in Nyemo County in Tibet Autonomous Region and is only 130 km away from Lhasa City, a glacier closest to Lhasa.
According to planning, the scenic district will have mountain hiking trails, a five-color holy lake scenic area, and a visitors’ center. Construction has been smooth so far, and the scenic district is slated to open in 2019.The scenic area offers a combination of sights including lakes, glaciers, meadows, and pastures.
