Sichuan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet highways monument selected as national key cultural relic protection
On November 22, It was learned from the Tibet Autonomous Region Cultural Relics Bureau that 15 units of the region have been selected for the eighth group of national key cultural relic protection units of China, including the monument on the north bank of the Lhasa River commemorating the Sichuan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet highways’ opening to traffic.
It is reported that the Sichuan-Tibet and Qinghai-Tibet Highways monument was completed on December 25, 1984 to commemorate the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, which begins in Chengdu, and the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, which begins in Xining.
According to reports, there are currently 4,277 cultural relic sites of various types throughout the Tibet Autonomous Region that are registered. There are 1,985 cultural relic protection units at various levels, including 70 national-level key cultural relic protection units, 603 autonomous region-level key cultural relic protection units, and 1,314 city and county-level cultural relic protection units.
