Potala Palace builds miniature fire prevention stations

On the afternoon of January 19, the Potala Palace held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Lhasa for the new miniature fire prevention stations, Tibet Daily reported.

Lobsang Nyentra, leader of the Potala Palace firefighting brigade, said that the Potala Palace administrative office selected 20 members of the Potala firefighting brigade for these two miniature fire prevention stations and regularly organizes study and examination sessions in order to enhance firefighting quality. The fire prevention stations have also been fully equipped with basic firefighting equipment.

It is said that the establishment of the fire prevention station is of great significance for first-time discovery of the source of a fire, for controlling the intensity of a fire, for strengthening inspection of security risks in Potala Palace, and for protecting key cultural relics.

This measure is not only an innovative new model for management of fire prevention security, but it is also the first of its kind within the Cultural Relic Work Unit.

Meanwhile, in order to improve fire prevention safety awareness of Potala Palace administrative cadre and staff members, knowledge and skills competitions were held at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
