Chamdo attends 9th Cross-Strait Cultural Fair for the first time

Chamdo has obtained fruitful results from the 9th Cross-Strait(Xiamen) Cultural Industries Fair, concluded on 7th November at Xiamen. This was the first time for Chamdo to attend the fair, and also for Tibet who has organized a group to participate in the “Cross-Straits Fair”.

Tibetan silver accessories drew many visitors at the exhibition, which were joint developed by Chamdo Thangka Painting Institute and the Fujian Zhenhuatang Crafts Co., Ltd. These are the first batch of cultural products that derived from the cultural exchange between Fujian Province and Chamdo, rich in local characteristics and representation.

The two parties' cooperation will be continued and more similar cultural products will be launched and marketed in both places, said Chang Xiaocheng, a national second-class artist, Chamdo Thangka Painting Institute.

Eight promotional displays were set up in the Chamdo exhibition area, divided into the LED city publicity area, characteristic Thangka exhibition area, folk art and craft products sales area, highland agricultural products exhibition and sales area, Khampa dance clothing and performance area, Tibetan calligraphy performance area, Chamdo intangible cultural heritage publicity area, and business area, according to Zhang Lifeng, secretary of Party Group and deputy director of the Chamdo Culture Bureau.

One cultural company of Chamdo signed the cultural industries development and cooperation agreement of the “13th Five-Year Plan” with Fujian Province Cultural Enterprises Association, and a strategic cooperation agreement on arts & crafts products with Fujian Zhenhuatang company, on the opening day of the Fair.

“Chamdo reaped greatly from the Fair,” said Zhang. As the counterpart to aid Chamdo, at present, Fujian Province's Culture Department has signed a framework agreement of cultural cooperation with Chamdo government, covering three main pillars of cultural industries, institutions, and cultural relic protection.

The aid includes talents, projects, funding, and technical support. Under the framework agreement, Fujian Province will support the packaging of Chamdo’s cultural industry, assist Chamdo to develop cultural charity projects, and engage in cultural and artistic exchange and cooperation.
