Epic film “Hero Gesar” begins shooting
Sponsored by the China Cultural Heritage Foundation and directed by the Beijing Golden Tara Film and Television Media Co., Ltd., the epic film “Hero Gesar” began shooting on Jun.21, 2016, Tibet Business reported.
A total of 500 million yuan (80.6 million US dollars) has been invested into the film. Tibet, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu, and Yunnan will all participate in creating this epic historical fantasy on the scale of films such as “Lord of the Rings” and “Troy”.
“King Gesar”, a great collective historical epic of the Tibetan people, represents the high achievements of ancient Tibetan folk culture. The epic, known as the “Homer of the East”, enjoys great renown in the international academic community.
According to a responsible person of the film, bringing the “King Gesar” onto the film screen will not only better promote Tibetan culture, but also enhance the traditional friendship between Tibetan and Han ethnicities.
