On June 19th, 2026, the Diqing—Shangri La Horse Racing Competition kicked off at the Municipal Ethnic Sports Center in Shangri La, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. With the theme of "riding horse to pursue a new dream and forging a heart through thanksgiving", the event gathered hundreds of riders from Yunnan, Sichuan, Xizang, Qinghai, Gansu and other places, and gathered together with tourists from home and abroad on the snow covered plateau. Using horses as a medium and unity to showcase the scene of communication, exchange, and integration among various ethnic groups.
