Potala Palace to open more attractions during Losar

The Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet will open more attractions to visitors and increase daily opening hours during Losar, or the Tibetan New Year due to increasing visitors, according to information from the Potala Palace Management Office.

Currently, the attraction is open daily from 9 am to 4 pm. Tickets can only be purchased at the main entrance. To greet the New Year, staff of the Potala Palace management office have changed the cloth decorated above doors and windows and hung up new prayer flags.

Tips:

1. Ticket price of the Potala Palace will be half at 100 Yuan (15 US dollars).

2. There is no regular bus service from Lhasa to Namtso Lake or Yamdro Yutso Lake. Visitors are suggested to hire a car or carpool. Ticket price of Namtso Lake is half at 60 Yuan (9 US dollars) in winter.

3. The “Winter Tour of Everest” will be launched on November 1, lasting until March 31. During this time, tickets to Everest Base Camp will decrease from the original 180 Yuan (26 US dollars) to 90 Yuan (13 US dollars). Lucky tourists may receive souvenirs from the Base.

4. Tourists can take a bus at the passenger station from Lhasa to Lhoka and hire a car or carpool to its scenery spots after arriving in Lhoka.
