The "2019 Forum on the Development of Tibet," took place in Lhasa, southwest China's Tibet on June 14.

During the forum, Professor Liu Haichao, from the School of Public Management of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law, said that the Belt and Road Initiative will help reduce poverty in Tibet, and his view was well-received.

Professor Liu said that compared to inland China, Tibet has many limitations in transportation due to its natural conditions, which leads to a relatively larger impoverished population on a massive scale.

The Belt and Road Initiative has provided Tibet with more important position and unprecedented opportunities in growth in areas including transportation, development of local industries, medicine and education.
